Our Volunteers

Palm Harbor Library has an exceptional volunteer program for working and retired adults, college students, and teens. Hundreds of community members have donated their time over the years. Volunteers are an integral part of Palm Harbor Library’s success!

How to Apply

Thank you for your interest! Getting started is easy. Fill out the online form below and someone will contact you from the library. If you do not hear back in 7-10 business days, you may follow up by calling 727-784-3332, or by visiting the library and asking to speak with a manager.

Volunteer Opportunities for Adults: Click here

Applications will be reviewed beginning 05/01/24. Adults may volunteer 2-4 hours weekly for the following roles: 

  • Checking in materials.
  • Shelving books, movies, tapes, CD Music, CD books, etc.
  • Shelf reading to ensure our collections are in the correct location.
  • Bookstore cashiers.
  • Sorting, pricing, and stocking the items that have been donated for resale in our bookstore.
  • Teaching English to adult English language learners. Training is provided to become a literacy tutor. Click here to find out more about the literacy program.

Volunteer Opportunities for Teens: Click here

Hours count for Bright Futures requirements. Teens may volunteer 2-4 hours weekly for the following roles:

  • Assisting librarians with in-person youth programs
  • Shelving books, movies, tapes, CD Music, CD books, etc.
  • Shelf-reading to ensure our collections are in the correct location
  • Youth Advisory Board (YAB) – Hybrid Program (virtual/in-person). 
    • Contribute to Advisory Board discussions; 1-hour meeting = 1 hour of credit
    • Fulfills requirements for Bright Futures, National Honor Society, etc.
