Summer Reading 2020

While this summer will look different, reading clubs will still be available for all ages!  Sign up in person or online on Saturday, June 6th at 10:00 a.m. Programs are on hiatus for the time being due to COVID-19, but the Library will be offering tons of Take & Make Crafts – Keep making, Palm Harbor!

PHL Summer Reading Clubs

We have Library Reading Clubs for all ages!  This year, you can sign up online and print your logs from home, but you’re always welcome to sign up in person starting Sat. June 6th at 10:00 a.m.

Dates to Remember for All Children’s Clubs:

Return Completed Logs: July 13 – Aug. 1

Prize Drawings: Aug. 3 (Need not be present to win)

Ages 0-2 Little Pages Reading Club

You and your child will enjoy achieving and completing the variety of fun pre-literacy tasks listed on the activity sheet. Simply mark off each circle as you complete it. Return your log to the Children’s Room by Aug. 1 to receive a certificate, free book, prize, and entry to our family prize drawing!

Ages 3-5 Squires Reading Club

For this club, kids must read or be read to at least 25 different books!  Mark a circle on your log for every book completed (there are more than 25 circles, so read as many as you like!).  Return your log to the Children’s Room by Aug. 1 to receive a certificate, free book, prize, and entry for the Grand Prize Drawing!

Ages 6-8 Knights Reading Club

Kids must read at least 10 books!  Write the titles down on your book log and have a grown-up initial each entry.  Then, tell us about one book:  You can visit us in-person, call 727-784-3332 ext. 4, or e-mail us at phlibkids@gmail.com.  Return your log to the Children’s Room by Aug. 1 to receive a certificate, free book, prize, and entry for the Grand Prize Drawing!

Ages 9-12 Lords and Ladies Reading Club

Tweens, this two-part club is just for you! Part 1: Complete and track 20 hours of reading on your log in the spots for author, title, and length of time read (use additional paper if necessary) and have a grown-up or librarian verify the total. Part 2: Complete any 5 of the 12 activities listed.  Return your log by Aug. 1 to receive a reading certificate, free book, small prize, and entry for the Tween grand prize drawing!

Reading with the Rays

Reading with the Rays has gone virtual this year!  Please visit mlb.com/rays/community/reading to download your virtual game card.  Here’s the program at a glance:

Reading with the Rays presented by Suncoast Credit Union

Kids up to age 18 can try to hit a home run by reading a total of 24 hours over the summer.

Meeting the reading goal earns you two (2) ticket vouchers to a Rays game of your choice, a Reading with the Rays prize, and a free item from the concession stand at the game!

Email your completed game card to reading@raysbaseball.com to receive an email link to your reward.

Any reading counted for Reading with the Rays can also be counted towards Palm Harbor Library’s summer reading clubs!
