These kits are science, technology, engineering, art, and math-themed. Each has hands-on activities, books, handouts, and movies. Enjoy a silly video about them. We created these kits ourselves! First Steps to Go Kits

Toys are the tools of learning. First Steps to Go are themed kits for toddlers and preschoolers that offer books, toys, puzzles, DVDs, and activity sheets on a variety of subjects… all in a convenient rolling duffel bag to take home! Enjoy play time with your child utilizing our First Steps to Go collection! These kits offer a variety of materials on various subjects for toddlers and preschoolers to encourage interactive playtime with caregiver supervision. Please ask at the Children’s Desk for availability or to place a hold. Note:

  • All kits must be checked out and returned to the Children’s Desk at Palm Harbor Library ONLY!
  • Staff can’t check in incomplete kits, which may result an overdue fine; borrowers will be charged for missing or damaged items.
  • 1 kit per family (28-day loan). Call the library to renew (overdue fines $1/day).
  • Ask about our STEAM Kits for older kids!

Musical Instruments

Check out a guitar, violin, keyboard, a dulcimer or more from our David & Gail Meltzer Musical Instrument Collection! Each instrument comes with a teach-yourself book and an online resources guide.  Check out a complete list of our instruments or give us a call to check what’s available.

Adaptive Toys

A circulating collection of adaptive toys, communication devices, capability switches, and games for children with special needs. Items in this collection are specifically designed for children who are developmentally delayed or physically challenged.

Love audiobooks but want to read along? We’ve got just the collection for you! Check out Wonderbooks, the newest product from Playaway. Each book has a built-in player that reads the story and has a learning mode to encourage literacy skills and discussion. Did you know that we have children’s puzzles available for loan?  These range anywhere from just a few wooden pieces up to 100 pieces. When these become too easy, you’ve graduated to the main puzzle collection on the adult side of the Library!
