Palm Harbor Library has an exceptional volunteer program for working people, retired individuals, college students, and high school teens (age 14+). Hundreds of community members have donated their time over the years. Volunteers are an integral part of keeping our library running efficiently!
How To Apply
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Palm Harbor Library! Getting started is easy. Pick up a volunteer application at our Info Desk or download a digital copy here. Completed volunteer applications can be dropped off at our Front Desk or emailed to our Volunteer Coordinator, Winona Patterson, at volunteer@phlib.org. Volunteer recruitment is year-round.

Volunteer Opportunities for Adults
Adults may volunteer 2-4 hours weekly for the following roles:
- Checking in materials.
- Shelving books, movies, tapes, CD Music, CD books, etc.
- Shelf reading to ensure our collections are in the correct location.
- Bookstore cashiers.
- Sorting, pricing, and stocking the items that have been donated for resale in our bookstore.
- Teaching English to adult English language learners. Training is provided to become a literacy tutor. Click here to find out more on how to become a literacy volunteer.
Volunteer Opportunities for Teens
Teens must be 14 years or older to volunteer. Hours count for Bright Futures requirements.
Teens may volunteer 2-4 hours weekly for the following roles:
- Assisting librarians with in-person youth programs.
- Shelving books, movies, tapes, CD Music, CD books, etc.
- Shelf-reading to ensure our collections are in the correct location.
- Youth Advisory Board (YAB) – Hybrid Program (virtual/in-person). Contribute to Advisory Board discussions; 1-hour meeting = 1 hour of credit. Fulfills requirements for Bright Futures, National Honor Society, etc.
