Master Gardeners’ Plant Clinic

Suspended until further notice. Previously held on Wednesday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm The Pinellas County Master Gardeners provide a weekly gardening help desk for the public. Bring your gardening and landscaping questions as well as plant samples. No registration required. 

Master Gardeners Seed Library

Seed Library

The Master Gardeners, part of the University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences(IFAS) Cooperative Extension Services of Pinellas County create seed packets of plants that grow well in Central Florida and place those packets in the drawers of an old card catalog for people to ‘check-out’.

This is housed in the Adult Services Department, just south of the public computers. There is a limit of three packets a week. The check-out procedure is to write your name and the names of the seed packets in the Master Gardeners notebook, available at either Information Desk. No library card is necessary for these items.

Medicare Consults

1st & 3rd Tuesday 1:00, 2:15, 3:30 pm – by appointment virtually. Joyce Janczak, SHINE representative, meets with seniors to assist them in better understanding Medicare. Registration is necessary. 

Sign Language

Suspended until further notice. Previously held on Beginner – Tuesday 6:00-7:00 pm    Advanced – Tuesday 7:00-8:00 pm Come learn American Sign Language in this free and fun weekly class. No registration required. 

Socrates Cafe

Tai Chi

Suspended until further notice. Previously held on Beginner – Monday & Wednesday 2:00-3:00 pm   Advanced – Monday & Wednesday 1:00-2:00 pm. Join us for a fall-prevention program for seniors, developed at the Oregon Research Institute. Kris Scholz educates seniors on the importance of exercise and staying active to prevent falls. Suncoast Genealogy Society

The Suncoast Genealogy Society (SGS) is a non-profit organization, dedicated to the teaching of modern and ethical genealogy research techniques to the membership and general public through the use of meetings, workshops, lectures, field trips, and other educational activities.  Founded in 1983, SGS serves Northern Pinellas and Southern Pasco Counties.

SGS offers genealogy research assistance at the Palm Harbor Library each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Closed for the time being due to COVID-19

Meetings Schedule

SGS meetings are held on the fourth Saturday of the month at 1:00 p.m. The public is always welcome at our meetings. 

Board meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 2:30 p.m. Check the Events calendar on the SGS website for the latest dates and times.

The DNA Interest Group meets the second Monday of the month in the conference room of the library at 1:00 pm.
