Volunteers

The Palm Harbor Library has over 325 volunteers who donate at least 4 hours per week each. We have volunteers from 14 years of age and up.

Volunteer Opportunities for Adults

  • Checking materials in and out.
  • Shelving books, movies, tapes, CD Music, CD books, etc.
  • Covering books and bar coding items that will be added to the collection.
  • Shelf readers to insure our collections are in the correct location.
  • Bookstore cashiers.
  • Sorting, pricing and stocking the items that have been donated for resale in our bookstore.

Advisory Council and Endowment Foundation Board

Advisory Council

The Executive Board of the Palm Harbor Friends of the Library, Inc. appoints from the active membership of Palm Harbor Friends of the Library, Inc., seven persons to serve a term of two years on the Palm Harbor Library Advisory Council, commencing their term of office on the first day of January. Appointments are on an alternative basis; appointing two in one year, and three the following year. They can be reappointed for a second term. They can be reappointed for additional two-year terms subject to approval each time by the Board of Directors.

Endowment Foundation

The Palm Harbor Library Endowment Foundation, incorporated in 1999, greatly enhances the effectiveness of the Palm Harbor Library. The funds raised by the Foundation are used to supplement the Library’s tax-based services to all citizens.

The Palm Harbor Library seeks to inform, enrich, and empower every individual in the community. The Library serves the educational, recreational and informational needs of people of all ages, economic and cultural backgrounds. This vital resource depends, in part, on your generosity to help the Library meet the needs of your Palm Harbor community.

Palm Harbor Community Services Agency (PHCSA)

PHCSA meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm at either Palm Harbor Library, CSA Palm Harbor, or East Lake Community Library.

About PHCSA

The Palm Harbor Community Services Agency, Inc. was created in 1985 per Pinellas County Ordinance 85-28 to provide library and recreation services to the residents of the Palm Harbor Community Services District, a municipal services taxing unit.

The ad valorem tax of 0.25 mills for library service and 0.25 mills for recreation services, is $.50 for each $1,000 of assessed valuation.

The Agency is governed by a eight-member board of directors, each appointed to a 2-year term. They meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm at either the Palm Harbor Library, the East Lake Community Library or the Centre CSA Palm Harbor.

The Agency is responsible for the management of all library and recreation department funds and hires the directors of the Palm Harbor Library, East Lake Community Library, East Lake Recreation, and CSA Palm Harbor.
